The Brooks Launch updates to its 5th edition and continues to fill the space of a light, fast shoe at a great price point. Springing in at $100, this cushioned and quicker-feeling shoe has plenty of cushion for your long runs with enough pop to see you through a cross-training session, too. Basically, if you're a fan of multi-use tools, this shoe should be on your tool belt.
There are a few changes from the previous version that help with overall fit:
1. Expansion of the toebox. The Launch 5 tweaks the area around your toes a bit to give runners with a wider forefoot slightly more room to flex their foot. This helps with preventing rubbing or uncomfortable spots that some people might have experienced with the previous version.
2. New engineered upper. This newest edition also changes the rest of the upper. You'll find a mesh layer close to your foot with a perforated layer over top of that. This is the industry trend, and the Launch 5 follows suit. This helps with durability, makes the material more breathable, and lets your foot flex a bit more naturally.
3. Looks. We'll always go for function over fashion, but it never hurts when a shoe looks good. This new version has some cool colors that go with whatever type of outfit you might rock during exercise.
At $100, the Launch is a great and wallet-friendly option for both runners/walkers and the cross-training crowd. If you've worn the Launch before, we think it'll remain a tried-and-true favorite for you. Run by your local CRC to try on this update.
