Run Through Summer with CRC Races and Training

Events Training

We're halfway through July, but there are still a lot of ways to run and walk with the Columbus Running Company during the bright summer months. Check out our upcoming programs and races!

Walk & Run 101 – Begins Saturday 7/22

Walk & Run 101 is a 10-week program designed to get beginning walkers and runners started with a walk/run routine, with the goal of finishing the Big Bad Wolfe 5K at the end of the season. We'll host an initial kick-off clinic where our lead coach will discuss the training plan, the basics of form, nutrition, hydration and more. After that, you'll receive weekly coaching emails and be invited to join our weekly group walks & runs on Saturdays at 8:00 am at any of the four CRC locations.

The kick-off meetings begin 7/18, so register for Walk & Run today! You can find more information here.

Cardinal Cross Country Series – Tuesday 7/18, 7/25, 8/1

The first race of the Cardinal Cross Country Series ran on 7/11 and it was AWESOME. Make the next three Tuesday nights some of the best of the summer by getting in some off-road racing!

Held on Otterbein University's cross country course, you'll get out on the grass for some summer fun. Young athletes will have an opportunity to compete in their favorite sport during the offseason, and the adults will get a unique opportunity to join in the fun, too. All ages are welcome to these events.

This year we have a youth 2-mile race each evening in addition to the open 5K (athletes in the youth race must be 13 or younger to participate). Whether you can make it to just one or all three, join us in Westerville for a unique racing experience. Find more info and register here.

Grasshoppers XC – Begins Monday 8/14

The summer season of the ASICS Grasshoppers youth running club is in full swing, but the fall cross-country season is just around the corner and registration is open now!

The Grasshoppers XC is a running club for 5th & 6th grade cross country runners. We’re here to help the next generation of XC athletes as they discover the sport and prepare for their middle school & high school seasons to come.

Club members receive coaching, a team uniform, entry into all of our scheduled races, a post-season awards party, and a season of fun. The focus of our fall program is on training and competing as a team, with an emphasis on developing lifelong runners. Learn more and register your youth runner here.

The Blazin’ 5: A Southeast Scorcher – Sunday 8/27

When the dog days of summer arrive in their sweltering haze and the temperatures are hot enough to grill your GU, do you seek the central-air salvation of home? Or do you glare in the sun’s general direction and dare that fiery mass to do its worst?

If you’re tough enough to take the heat, then pack away your popsicles and slather on the sunscreen, because the Blazin’ 5 Miler is rolling into town and it’s gonna be HOT.

Starting at the Jerry L. Garver YMCA in Canal Winchester, this scorcher of a race streaks across town in a white-hot fury before ending back at the YMCA where you can enjoy some post-race festivities and check out all the YMCA has to offer.

Register for the Blazin’ 5: A Southeast Scorcher today and finish the summer in a blaze of glory.
